Box Mobile – Introduction

Box Mobile – Introduction

Box is a cloud-based software package that allows for automated syncing of files and folders. Box users can use the software to collaborate on projects and file creation, too.

For a company already using the Box cloud storage and collaboration software on laptops and desktops, adding the mobile Box app is a logical next step. Team members can enhance their productivity by using Box anywhere and on any device. No matter where work (or life) takes you, Box Mobile app helps you manage your content and get more done. With flexibility to view hundreds of file types, securely share your files, and save them for offline access, the Box app puts the power of the Content Cloud in your hands.

The number of features users will have available with the mobile apps depends in part on the subscription tier for the account.

When purchasing a Box subscription for a business, users can select among four different pricing tiers. Each of these four tiers includes mobile access as part of the regular price. Each level also offers a 14-day free trial period. However, the version of Box made for non-business use does have a completely free version available.

Users will have access to the same folder structure they use in the desktop version. When users open the Box app, they will see all of the folders used to organize the files stored in the cloud.

Users who sign up for the Business, Business Plan, or Enterprise tiers will have access to Box’s mobile security controls feature. This feature gives administrators the ability to control how team members access the data stored in Box through their mobile devices. Administrators can manage these mobile security settings through the Admin Console page in Box. Individual mobile users also have some options for controlling their mobile security settings, including the ability to require a Box app-specific passcode after a period of inactivity. Users can choose to enact a two-step login process to Box as well.

Box Mobile App is available via iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry devices. This app gives users the ability to make use of Box – capture, access, and share content securely – on any device, anywhere.

Nexlogica Won Box Hackathon for Good!

Nexlogica Won Box Hackathon for Good!

On September 28–30th, Nexlogica participated in the first Hackathon for Good to help out The Nature Conservancy.

The Nature Conservancy’s content has exponentially grown as time progresses. As employees leave to continue on their career journey at other places, TNC is left with data that is hard to parse through and stale user accounts that take up licenses. This has caused loss of valuable research that is vital to TNC.

The Teams were tasked with finding a way to make employee transitions more scalable by doing two things :

  1. Migrate off-boarded employees data to another place, followed by deactivating the user account
  2. Decide what, if any, of the data should be kept rather than storing it forever

We are happy to announce, that our Nexlogica Team won the prize for

The Best Use of Box!

We built a custom UI for onboarding and off boarding employees, integrated AI tools to gather data insights, designed an easy to use content migrator, and used almost every tool Box can offer their enterprise customers.

Congratulations to all Teams ! We can’t wait to participate in next Box Hackathon!

Malware Deep Scan Capability in Box Shield

Malware Deep Scan Capability in Box Shield

Box Shield – the Box’s flagship security control and intelligent threat detection solution, has capability to help customers reduce the risk of ransomware by scanning files in near real-time as they are uploaded to Box. These new capabilities, leverage deep learning technology and external threat intelligence to analyze files and stop sophisticated malware (before it causes business disruption) by adding deep learning technology that complements traditional hash-based or file-fingerprint scanning approaches that leverage known malware datasets. Customers has benefits from an additional layer of security that looks inside of individual files to identify malware and then automatically clears the file or blocks the spread of malware in near real-time. These capabilities provide customers using Box Shield with higher malware detection rates and fewer false positives.

Malware deep scan allows Box Shield to:

• Recognize malicious traits inside content in near real-time by leveraging the latest deep learning models to provide customers with broader coverage of sophisticated malware.

• Extend malware detection to active content in Box as users upload, update, download, preview, share, copy or move content to reduce the risk of malware infection by scanning both new and historical content.

• Analyze external content that is accessed by managed users to expand protection to content that is shared with an organization from an external source.

• Allow admins to occasionally override threat verdicts for low-risk content to avoid disrupting business workflows.

Box also provides enhanced alerts powered by machine learning for anomalous user behavior like suspicious downloads in Box Shield. Admins are receiving more detailed alerts with context explaining why Box Shield’s machine learning algorithm has deemed certain behaviors as risky. These improvements better equip admins in their investigation of anomalous behavior and provide granular feedback to train underlying algorithms for their company.

Auto-classification in Box Shield

In addition to helping detect and thwart potential insider threats or compromised accounts, Box Shield also uses advanced machine learning to help prevent accidental data leaks through a system of manual and automated security classifications for files, folders, and classification-based access policies. Auto-classification in Box Shield intelligently applies labels to files based on content inside, enabling customers to discover and label sensitive files at scale.
